The Overlook Auxiliary, an independent organization made up of men and women of all ages, supports the Medical Center by providing much needed creative fundraising.
Gift Shop Assistant Manager
Cindy Curley began working with The Gift Shop in 2003 as a volunteer toy buyer. In 2007, she became Assistant Manager of The Gift Shop. "I really enjoy buying fun and unique gifts and accessories for The Gift Shop, displaying the merchandise, and working with customers," says Cindy. Prior to her involvement with The Gift Shop, Cindy worked in advertising and marketing for The Star Ledger. Cindy has lived in Summit for over twenty with her husband and three children. In her free time, Cindy enjoys playing tennis, exercising, reading, and spending time with her family both at home and at their summer home in Vermont.
Gift Shop Manager
Mary Damiano has been at the Gift Shop since 1992, first as a volunteer, then as a per diem. She was promoted to Assistant Manager in 2002, and has been the manager of The Gift Shop since 2007. Previously, Mary worked at L’Ambiance, an upscale shop in Summit, for many years.
Mary was born in Serino, Avellino, Italy and immigrated to the United States at the young age of three. She has resided in Summit for most of her life. “I’ve always loved Overlook Medical Center,” said Mary, “there were many (family) births and happy memories here”. When not at work, Mary enjoys time with her extended family, including many nieces and nephews, rooting for the Yankees, cooking, book clubs, and the theatre. She enjoys travel, dining out with friends, and spending time at her condo in Wildwood Crest.
Laura (Wrong) McDowell has been with Bloom since the new location opened in April 2007, adding a new dimension to the existing Gift Shop. Laura has been in the floral industry since 1993 and was the owner of Jardiniere in Far Hills prior to coming to The Gift Shop & Bloom. Her background includes study at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, extensive experience in wedding and event design, and work as a floral consultant. Laura can create a chic arrangement for a patient’s bedside or a lavish centerpiece for a gala event. She loves bright colors and has her favorite flowers each season; tulips and amaryllis in the Winter, lilacs and peonies in the Spring, zinnias in the Summer, and dahlias in Autumn. "There is a beautiful mix of flowers produced for each of the seasons".
Laura is passionate about animal rescue and volunteers her time with two local dog and cat rescue groups. She has nineteen rescued animals at home in Hunterdon County; fifteen cats and four dogs. Laura enjoys spending time with her husband, Pete, gardening, attending concerts, hiking in Vermont, and relaxing on the beach in Long Beach Island. She is an avid New York Rangers fan!

There truly is something for everyone on your list, and the merchandise is ever-changing, so visit often. The Gift Shop is known for the fabulous, personalized gift, fruit, and gourmet baskets which can be delivered locally. Many dedicated volunteers staff The Gift Shop. Customers are always greeted with a smile and a kind word!
Bloom offers the expertise of a professional floral designer. Working with seasonal flowers ensures that only the freshest “blooms” are used in every floral design. Call directly to discuss your wishes for a custom design or choose from an array of choices, which are offered fresh daily in the large floral display case. Seasonal plants and dish gardens are available for purchase and delivery. All floral products are competitively priced. Bloom offers convenience, as well as style for all occasions, including proms, weddings, and birthdays.
The Gift Shop & Bloom is owned by the Overlook Auxiliary and operated by dedicated employees who support their mission. Staffed by volunteers. Last year over $105,000 was donated to the Overlook Auxiliary to support vital patient services.
